Visualizing the Melody

Irish traditional music relies on quick ornamentation, runs, and leaps. In Display Played Notes mode, the fretboard lights up with the exact pitches as they are sounded by the synth player. This helps you trace where the melody sits on the fretboard and discover efficient fingerings for reels, jigs, and hornpipes.

Rhythmic Backing & Chords

In Display Backup Chords mode, the fretboard updates dynamically to show the open or solved voicing shape for the current chord symbol (e.g. "D", "Am", "G") written in the ABC score. Backing traditional tunes is all about maintaining a driving rhythm while letting open strings drone to provide depth.

Supported Instruments & Tunings

Switch tuning dynamically to map chord fingerings and melody notes across 11 supported instruments and tunings:

  • Standard Guitar (EADGBE): Classic folk backing, open triad shapes, and movable chords.
  • DADGAD Guitar: Modal open-string resonance for D, A, G, and C traditional modes.
  • GDAD Bouzouki: Octave drone pairs and punchy rhythm chords for session tunes.
  • ADAE High Bass (Fiddle / Bouzouki): Classic cross-tuning for fiddle, Hardanger fiddle, and bouzouki with ringing A and D drone string pairs.
